FLUFFY WALK

Rafaela Mascaro

Rafaela Mascaro (she/her)

Rafaela Mascaro (Studio Grand-Père) is a São Paulo–based visual artist and designer whose work blends illustration, pattern, and figurative storytelling. She integrates flora, abstract motifs, and human figures to create visual narratives that foreground memory, presence, and embodied identity. Her illustrations are rooted in intimacy, imperfection, and relational experience, inviting viewers to slow down and engage with the subtleties of line, color, and form.

Through Studio Grand-Père, founded in 2015 as a tribute to her maternal grandfather Osvaldo, Mascaro bridges fine art, graphic composition, and textile design. Collaborations with UNICEF and ethically-minded brands extend her visual poetics into printed editions, packaging, and pattern systems, demonstrating a fluid exchange between personal practice and public circulation.

Her imagery circulates through both commercial and artistic spheres without losing the emotive, contemplative core of her practice. Mascaro’s work thrives in the overlap between studio experimentation, cultural dialogue, and material presence, offering audiences rich, multi-layered encounters with narrative, colour, and texture.
